Prints

I am pleased to offer the highest quality photographic prints using state of the art technology. I use my HP Z3100 printer for almost all of my printing. The prints have much more detail than the images you see on the website, partly because I print at 300 dots per inch and partly because my PhaseOne P45 digital back provides 39 megapixels on each shot. Multiply that by three for some of the panoramas and I have a 100 megapixel capture. I process the files using various techniques in Photoshop CS4 to balance the color and emphasize various parts of the photograph to get the images that you see on this website. I will print the image several times and make corrections to the image in an iterative process until I am happy that it looks the way I want it to.

I print onto Hahnemuhle smooth surface Photo Rag paper which has been optimized to work with inkjet printers such as those I use. At 308 grams per square centimeter, this 100% cotton archival paper is substantial and has a nice feel to the hand. The paper has a mat finish which, in my opinion, adds to the clarity of the print but, to some, can look flat. Once the print is behind glass it is impossible to tell. In rare cases I use Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta paper to reproduce especially vivid colors. I carefully look at every print to assure it is of the highest quality before I sign it.
