On Colorado's Eastern Plains, life moves at a different speed that cannot be understood from the window of a car whizzing along on a major interstate. This is why I call it a forgotten land. It is a landscape that cannot be understood in a second — to appreciate it you have to get out of the car, feel the sun on the corn fields, smell the wind, watch the clouds paint the sky with subtle shapes, and slow down. I hope that these pictures bring a sense of calm as they bring out the beauty of the forgotten land of Colorado’s eastern plains — giving us back the quiet spaces that we rarely stop to see.
