Squaw Pass, Colorado

On my way back from a photo shoot on Rabbit Ears pass I had another visit to Squaw Pass, this time I drove all the way over to Bergren Park. There was a beautiful pullout looking over in to a valley below Mt. Evans and the fresh snow on the pine trees really set them apart from the yellow-green aspen trees.

Eldora, Colorado

Drove up to the mountains to pick up my daughter from her school camping trip and had a few minutes to take pictures while waiting for them to arrive. I happened across this scene of the changing leaves of the bushes in front of the wonderfully detailed pine trees, all reflected in the beaver pond in front, a nice little composition of the season.

Sqauw Pass, Colorado

I was riding my bicycle up the Squaw Pass road from Idaho Springs to Echo Lake this morning and found this nice little composition. The weather over the last few days was rainy and it was mighty cold this morning, definitely in the 30’s, and what struck my eye was the pattern that the water made on the tree trunk, especially in contrast to the wonderful yellow-green leaves on the small tree. Another rider went by and said they would have never seen that if I hadn’t have been shooting it, it just shows that us photographers look at the world differently than most people.

San Luis Valley, Colorado

On my way back from New Mexico today I came across the most wonderful clouds in the San Luis Valley. I first encountered some nice ones with a crescent moon near Antonito, but then as I came north out of Alamosa I just had to pull over and shoot these. I put the polarizer on to really make the clouds stand out from the beautifully blue sky and I think it worked well, resulting in this incredibly abstract composition.
